Common questions

We know asking for help can come with questions—here are a few answers for neighbors, volunteers, and community partners to help everyone feel comfortable and confident.

What kinds of help can I request?

Everyday Smiles helps with light, everyday, non-medical tasks—things like changing a lightbulb, carrying groceries, setting up or taking down seasonal decorations, getting a ride to an appointment, or having a friendly social visit. If you’re unsure whether something qualifies, just call or text us and ask.

Do you provide medical or home healthcare service?

No. Everyday Smiles is not a medical service and our volunteers don’t provide medical care, personal care, or clinical assistance. We focus on everyday help and human connection—the small things that make daily life safer and more manageable.

Do I need to download app or use a computer?

Is there a cost to receive help?

No. Everyday Smiles is a nonprofit, and our volunteers are just that, unpaid neighbors who help free of charge. Some people choose to donate to support our program, but assistance is never contingent on payment.

Who are the volunteers?

Volunteers are caring community members who want to help their neighbors. Many come through local nonprofits, churches, and community organizations. As we grow, we’re building additional safeguards like references and repeat “regular helpers” to strengthen trust over time.

Is it safe to let a volunteer into my home?

Your comfort and safety matter. We work closely with trusted community partners to source volunteers, and encourage clear communication about preferences, pets, and boundaries. If at any point something doesn’t feel right, you are never obligated to proceed—and you can always contact us, or in an emergency, your local authorities.

What if no volunteer is available to help me?

Most requests are filled quickly, but availability can vary.If a request isn’t accepted right away, we’ll follow up with you and explore options through our community partners or suggest another time that may work better.

How can I help as a volunteer or partner organization?

If you’d like to volunteer, you can sign up to help with tasks that fit your availability and comfort level—no long-term commitment required. If you represent a nonprofit, church, or community organization, we’d love to partner with you to extend your impact and support neighbors together.
